Video assignments are very common in the online learning environment, and your instructor may ask you to create a video and submit it to an assignment page or a discussion in your Canvas course.
Depending on how your instructor configured the discussion/assignment, there are different ways for you to record a new video, upload an existing video from your computer, or embed a video that exists in your My Media folder.

Anywhere in Canvas that you can type will enable you to use the rich text editor. The editor's toolbar contains a Firework icon that gives you access to your Media Gallery.
1. In the rich text editor, click the Firework icon to open your personal Media Gallery menu.
Note: If you cannot see the Firework icon, click on the three dots to the far right side of the toolbar to see all hidden options, and the Firework will be there.

After clicking the firework, you will see your Media Gallery (Kaltura) menu, and there are several options for bringing in video media (See screenshot below).
1. Click the Add New button (top-right corner) for media options.
A. Media Upload - Upload an exisiting video from your computer using a standard file upload screen.
B. QuickCapture - Record a webcam video directly from your browser (no download required).
C. YouTube - Add media from YouTube website.
D. Kaltura Capture - Launch Kaltura Capture software for capturing screen, webcam video, and audio (download required).
E. Embed - Embed media that already exists in your My Media gallery. Click the Embed button to add the video to your assignment. NOTE: There is no need to click Add New to embed.

If your instructor has configured your assignment so that only video media can be uploaded, the interface to use will look different from the previous media method.
1. Click the Start Assignment button in the top-right corner of the assignment. This will open a Media tab just below the assignment's instructions.
2. Click the Record/Upload Media button.
