January 5, 2024: UC San Diego Extended Studies has implemented our new Course and Instructor Evaluation process. Beginning with Winter 2024 courses, students will be able to access their survey directly through Canvas following the directions below or by clicking a link they receive in an email. We appreciate your participation in this valuable phase of our new Course and Instructor Evaluation implementation.
The window for students to submit their Course and Instructor Evaluation begins when the course is 90% complete and ends 7 days after the course end date.

Accessing your Course and Instructor Evaluations through Canvas
Students have three options for accessing their Course and Instructor Evaluation through Canvas.
1. Once the course is 90% complete you will see a message pop up on your Canvas Dashboard.
Click Go to Survey to view a list of active Course and Instructor Evaluations.
*If you do not want to take the survey when the pop up message appears, click Do it Later. The message will continue to reappear on your Canvas Dashboard until the surveys are completed or until the survey window has closed (7 days after course end date).
2. Students can also click on the Course Evaluation button (star icon) located on the global Canvas menu:
3. Alternatively, students can access the Course and Instructor Evaluation within the Canvas course. At the 90% complete date, a link to the Course Evaluation will appear within the course on the bottom right Activity Panel. Students can click the link listed in the Course Evaluations area to access the survey.
Once you have clicked one of the survey access links you will be taken to your My Surveys page.
Click the Course Evaluation you want to begin.
Complete all questions and click Submit at the bottom when you have finished.
Accessing your Course and Instructor Evaluations through Email
Students are sent two emails from des-eval@ucsd.edu that include links to the survey. The first email is sent when the Course Evaluation becomes available (when the course is 90% complete) and the reminder email is sent 4 days after the course end date (3 days before the Course Evaluation end date).
1. To access your Course and Instructor Evaluation open the email and click on the Go to Survey link next to your course.
2. From your My Survey list click on the name of the Course and Instructor Evaluation you would like to access.
3. Complete all questions and click Submit at the bottom when you have finished.
Accessing your Course and Instructor Evaluations using the Canvas mobile app
Students are able to access their Course and Instructor Evaluation using the Canvas mobile app by following the directions below.
1. From the homepage, touch the three horizontal lines icon on the left side of the interface.
2. Touch the "Help" link.
3. Under the "Help" menu, touch the "Course Evaluations for Mobile Devices" link.
4. Touch on the name of the Course and Instructor Evaluation you would like to access.
5. Complete all questions and touch "Submit" when you have finished.
FAQ
Can I change my response after I submit my Course Evaluation?
Yes, but a staff member will need to reset your attempt. Please submit a help desk ticket and include your name and the name of the course that you would like to redo the survey in.
Why don't I see all my courses listed my Survey Summary?
Courses will be listed during their active survey window which is 7 days prior to the course end date and 7 days after the course end date.
