First-time Registration with Lucid
When you encounter a Lucid product for the first time in Canvas, you will be prompted to set up your account.
1. First, you will need to verify that you are 13 years of age or older. Click the appropriate choice based on your age and click Next.
2. For the account step, follow the appropriate step below:
- If you do not have a Lucid account, click Sign up. A Lucid account will be created for you connected to the email address on your Canvas account.
- If you have an account but are not logged in, click Log in.
- If you are already logged in to a Lucid account, click Connect to Lucid.
Then click Continue.
3. You will then be welcomed and will need to click Get Started in the lower right corner.
4. Review the permissions and click Grant Access.
Your Lucid account is now connected, allowing you to access and edit Lucid documents from Canvas.
How do I use a Lucid product on a page?
Your instructor can embed a Lucidspark or Lucidchart on any page in Canvas, and depending on the configuration, you may or may not be able to edit that element. Listen to your instructor in class or look for instructions on the page.
- If you are allowed to edit the chart, you will be able to do so without taking any further steps. Use the tools (A) to make any changes to the chart on the page (B), and your changes will be saved automatically.
- If you can't edit the chart, then it is for instructor use only.
- Of course, if your instructor has directed you to edit a chart and you cannot, please email or Canvas message them to let them know so that they can change the permissions.
How do I submit a Lucid assignment?
If your instructor gives you a Lucid assignment, you will see either a Lucidchart or Lucidspark element on the page.
1. Use the toolbar on the left to create your work in the whitespace, which is an infinite whiteboard.
2. When you are finished with your work, click Submit Assignment.
- Note: If you have already submitted your chart, the button (2) will say "Resubmit Assignment" if your instructor allows multiple submissions.
3. You will have the opportunity to add any comments before you click Submit to submit your work.
