Your Extended Studies course may be programmed with module requirements that guide you on a specific path through your learning content. These requirements mean you will interact with the contents of a module in specific ways before you can move on to the next item or begin a new module.
Module with Requirements
A module with requirements has a distinct appearance compared to other modules in Canvas with no requirements.
(1) Items that are open for you to view/interact with will be in a bold text while (2) locked content will be grayed out and inaccessible. Each item displays its requirement type under the title, and by hovering over (3) a circle off to the far right side of the item's tile, you can also tell what kind of requirement there is.
(4) You can tell if a module is locked by whether or not a lock icon appears in the upper-right corner. All of the previous module's requirements must be met before the next module becomes unlocked.
Requirement Types
View
Some items may require you to simply view them.
This means clicking on the link in the module, viewing the content. Once the content of that item has been viewed, you can click the Next button shown in the lower right corner of the page. Or you can navigate back to the modules and select the next sequential item in the module.
Mark as Done
Some items may require you to mark them as done.
On pages, you will find the Mark as Done button at the bottom of the page next to the Next button.
On assignments, you will find the Mark as Done button at the top-right corner of the page.
When the Mark as Done button is clicked, it will change to a green, checkmark-adorned Done state.
Score at Least
Quizzes may have minimum scores that must be met before you can move on to new learning content.
Once you have met the minimum score, the quiz item will be marked as Done in the module, and you will be able to progress to the next item or module, depending on what is next in the sequence.
Moving on the next Module
Once you have completed all requirements in a module, you will see the completed checkmark at the top of the module and next to all completed items, and then you will be able to access the first item (or open items) in the next module.
