Recorded Zoom meetings are only available on the system for 30 days. In order for students to access the recorded meetings past 30 days you will need to download the recording from Zoom and upload to a site they can access.
We recommend you upload the recording to Kaltura and embed inside your Canvas course (steps below). Alternatively you can upload to a third party site that can host large media files such as YouTube, Google or Vimeo.
1. Download the Recording from Zoom
Log into Zoom account using your AD account/Single Sign-On and click Recordings.
Click on the More button next to the meeting you want to download and select Download.
Save the mp4 file to your local machine.
2. Upload the Recording to Kaltura
Navigate to your My Media area in Canvas by clicking on My Media in the course navigation menu.
- My Media is available by clicking on Account, in global navigation, and then My Media.
Once in the My Media area look for the Add New button then click on Media Upload.
Select the mp4 you downloaded off Zoom.
Update the name of the video, change the status to Published and click Save.
*Uploading can take a while so please be patient during this process.
**Note that changing the recording's status to Published in My Media is not the same as publishing the recording in your Canvas course.
3. Embed in your Course
Navigate to the course that you want to post the video to.
If you have already created a page or item for this content Edit that page. If you do not have a page/item set up yet, create a new page. See the steps below:
Canvas:
Click the Kaltura firework icon on the right of the editor box to open your My Media.
This will launch your Media Gallery which contains any content you have uploaded to your My Media. Click the Embed button next to the video you want to embed. After you click Embed, you will return to the rich text editor and you will see your media on the page. Hit Save in the rich text editor when you are finished, and your page with its video contents will be ready to view.
