UC San Diego Extended Studies has integrated the plagiarism checker tool CopyLeaks into our Canvas system. To use the tool you will need to set up a CopyLeaks enabled Assignment using the directions below.
To add a new assignment that will automatically be scanned by CopyLeaks, go to Modules and click on the + icon next to the Module title where the assignment should be added.
Make sure "Assignment" is listed in the "Add" field and highlight "New Assignment" below. Provide a name in the "Assignment Name" field and click "Add Item".
On the "Create new assignment" page, under Submission Type, Select Online, and select Text Entry, File Upload or both. Once you make this selection a new field will appear called Plagiarism Review.
- In the Plagiarism Review area drop down and select CopyLeaks Plagiarism Checker. Select your preferred settings and Save if you made any changes.
- Finish filling out the rest of your assignment settings and click Save and Publish if it is ready for your students to view.
If the assignment is published, students will see it within the Module you deployed it in. The student is then able to view the assignment and add a file to be submitted.
- After student has submitted a file, the originality report score and details will be available through Canvas Grades. When instructors go to Speed Grader they will see a score on the right in the Submitted files area. To view the report details click on the percentage score.
When clicking on the plagiarism score, the user will be redirected to the report
