Search public YouTube videos
- In Canvas, you can embed a video anywhere you can edit content such as a Discussion post, a page, or an assignment. Navigate to the place where you would like to embed the video.
- Click the Apps icon on the editor menu that looks like a plug and drop down to YouTube. If you do not see it listed click on View All then select Youtube.
- Use the Search field to locate a video and click Embed next to the video you want to embed.
Use the embed code for a specific video
First, you will need the embed code provided by YouTube or the online video provider you are trying to share.
Finding the embed code on YouTube:
- Go to YouTube.
- Navigate to the video you wish to embed.
- Click the Share link below the video, then click the Embed link.
- The embed link will be highlighted in blue. You will need to copy this link in order to add it to your page in your course.
Embedding the Video in Canvas
- In Canvas, you can embed a video anywhere you can edit content such as a Discussion post, a page, or an assignment. Navigate to the place where you would like to embed the video.
- Click the Embed icon at the end of the toolbar, it looks like a little cloud:
If you do not see the icon, click on the three vertical dots at the end of the toolbar to see more options - Paste the Embed code that you copied from YouTube, or other site, and click Submit.
