- Create a prerequisite for the upcoming module to complete the current module.
- Create a no-submission assignment and make it available to the student now. Then assign it to the rest of the class for a later date. Put this assignment in the current module.
- Set a requirement on the current module that students must view the no-submission assignment.
The student simply has to open that no-submission assignment and the next module will open up for them. You can then delete this assignment when the rest of the class needs to gain access to the next module. Or you can make the no-submission assignment open up to the rest of the class when the next module should. You'll just need to explain to them that they'll need to view that assignment before they can move on.
Other students will be able to see the no-submission assignment in the modules. However, they won't be able to access it until the date you set which will prevent them from unlocking the next module.
