As of November 25th, 2020, Machine Generated Captions are automatically added to all media that is uploaded to Kaltura. If your media was uploaded prior to then and you do not have captions on your content, or if you would like to generate captions in a different language follow the below steps.

Request Machine Generated Captions
- All users can access their My Media (Kaltura) area through the Canvas Global menu bar. Click on the My Media (Kaltura) button on the left menu (the firework icon).
- Select the media (click the checkbox to select) you want to request captions for. You may select more than one media entry.
- Select Caption & Enrich from the Actions menu.
- This screen will appear (Request Spanish Captions):
- Click Submit. Requests are sent automatically. You will receive a message that your request has been received. The video will be updated with the captions when it's ready.
- If you submit and identical order to one that exists, the following message is displayed:
Request Spanish Captions:
Once you're at step 4 of the above instructions (Request Machine Generated Captions), follow these instructions to request Spanish captions.
- The default selected language is English, but to change it to Spanish, click on the down-arrow of Source Media Language and Select "Spanish
- Click Submit. Requests are sent automatically. You will receive a message that your request has been received. The video will be updated with Spanish captions when it's ready.
- You might get a message "Service was already requested for this video", in this case please give the video some time to update with the captions
Viewing Existing Requests
- In My Media, click on the video you have requested captions for.
- Select Captions & Enrich from the Actions drop down menu.
- If there are no existing requests, the following message is displayed: If there are existing requests, the Existing Requests table is displayed.
- Use the arrow at the side of the request to display more details. This will also show the turn around time.
