As an instructor at Extended Studies there may be instances where you need to edit your video content. If you have used Kaltura Capture to record your video content, we recommend referencing our help article Editing Options for Kaltura Videos. If you have used other software to record your content, such as Zoom or PowerPoint, we recommend the following free video editing software.
Windows Clipchamp Video Editor for PC users
Windows has a built-in video editor called Clipchamp, which is available on Windows 11 and can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. It is also available as a free online video editor.
It allows users to make basic video edits including:
- Remove parts of the video through the trimming and splitting tools (trimming removes part of the video like the dead air at the end, whereas splitting divides the video into two separate clips which can be useful when replacing segments in the middle of your video).
- Reorder video segments, insert new videos, and merge them all into one video. This is the most common request we receive.
- Insert simple text and images
For step-by-step directions about using Windows Clipchamp please see How to edit a video in Clipchamp. Please see below for a video tutorial on how to use Clipchamp.
Apple iMovie for Mac users
